Is my image or its location data uploaded anywhere?

No. Both the GPS detection and the metadata removal happen entirely in your browser. Nothing about your image or where it was taken is ever sent to a server.

How do you check for GPS data without a server?

We read the image file's binary EXIF segment directly in your browser and look for the GPS info tag, the same data your phone's camera app embedded, just read locally instead of uploaded anywhere.

Does this also remove other metadata, not just GPS?

Yes. Removing the metadata re-encodes the image, which strips all EXIF data, camera model, settings, timestamps, GPS, not just location specifically.

Will this reduce my image's quality?
