What is an MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external data sources. An MCP server exposes tools the assistant can call. SEOMentor's server exposes your SEO data, so the assistant can read it directly instead of you pasting exports.

Which AI clients can connect?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth. That includes Claude (web and desktop), Claude Code and Cursor. ChatGPT supports remote MCP connectors in developer mode.

Is the MCP server free?

Yes. The connector is free with any SEOMentor account, including the free plan. The data it returns depends on what your plan gives you access to.

Can it change anything on my site or in my account?

No. Every tool is read-only. There is nothing in the server that can start a scan, edit your site, change billing or delete data. It can only read what you already have in SEOMentor.

How is access secured?

Connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. You approve access on a consent screen, and you can revoke it at any time from your account settings or from the AI client. No API keys to copy or leak.

Does it access my Google account directly?

No. It reads the Search Console and Analytics data already connected inside SEOMentor. Your Google authorisation stays between you and SEOMentor, and remains read-only there too.
