Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser using the native canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, we have no way to see it.

Why isn't AVIF working for me?

Not every browser can encode AVIF via canvas yet, notably older Safari versions. When that happens, we automatically fall back to WebP, then JPEG, so you still get a smaller file.

Will converting to WebP or AVIF hurt image quality?

At the quality level we use, the difference is imperceptible for photos. WebP and AVIF are more efficient codecs, they achieve the same visual quality at a smaller file size, not lower quality at the same size.

Does this work for bulk/multiple images?
