Connect ChatGPT to SEOMentor
ChatGPT supports remote MCP connectors once developer mode is turned on. After that, connecting SEOMentor is the same custom-connector flow ChatGPT uses for any external tool.
Before you start
- A SEOMentor account with at least one completed scan
- A ChatGPT plan that supports developer mode / custom connectors
Connect in 3 steps
Turn on developer mode
In ChatGPT, go to Settings → Connectors (or Apps & Connectors) and enable developer mode if you haven't already — this is what unlocks adding custom MCP servers.
Add SEOMentor as a connector
Click Add connector, paste this as the server URL, and save.

ChatGPT redirects to SEOMentor's sign-in and consent screen. Log in and approve — then the connector is live for that chat and future ones.
Try it once connected
Ask these, word for word or close to it — ChatGPT calls SEOMentor's MCP tools behind the scenes and answers using your real account data.
You ask:
“Using my SEOMentor connection, what's dragging down my SEO score on [yoursite.com]?”
Example of what comes back:
ChatGPT calls get_scan_results for that site and walks through the lowest-scoring categories — usually naming a specific Core Web Vital, missing meta tag, or image issue as the top culprit.
You ask:
“Compare my organic traffic to total site traffic for the last 28 days.”
Example of what comes back:
It calls get_gsc_performance and get_ga_traffic together and puts the two numbers next to each other so you can see what portion of real visits are coming from search.
You ask:
“Has my score gone up or down since my last scan?”
Example of what comes back:
It calls compare_scans, which returns your score history for the site, and tells you the direction and size of the change in plain terms.
What ChatGPT can and can't do
Every tool on SEOMentor's MCP server is read-only. ChatGPT can pull your scan results, Search Console and Analytics data, and score history — it can't start a new scan, change a setting, or touch billing. The connection uses OAuth, so you approve it once on a consent screen and can revoke it anytime from SEOMentor settings or from ChatGPT itself.
Troubleshooting
I don't see an option to add a custom connector
Developer mode has to be explicitly turned on first (it's off by default), and custom connectors may not be available on every ChatGPT plan — check your plan's connector support if the option is still missing after enabling it.
The connector added but ChatGPT won't call it
Try explicitly naming SEOMentor in your prompt ("using my SEOMentor connection...") — this makes ChatGPT more reliably reach for the right tool instead of guessing.
It's giving generic SEO advice instead of using my real data
That means it isn't actually calling the tool — rephrase to explicitly reference SEOMentor, or check under the message for a tool-call indicator to confirm whether it actually queried the server.
Disconnect anytime
- —Settings → Connectors → remove SEOMentor.
- —In SEOMentor: Settings → Connected Apps → revoke ChatGPT's access.
FAQ
Is this free on ChatGPT's free tier?
Custom/developer-mode connectors are generally limited to paid ChatGPT plans — check ChatGPT's own plan comparison for current connector availability. The SEOMentor side of the connection is free regardless.
Does ChatGPT store my SEOMentor data?
ChatGPT receives whatever a tool call returns for that conversation, the same as any other connector — it isn't a standing sync, each answer is generated from a fresh call.
Can I connect more than one SEOMentor account?
The connector is tied to whichever SEOMentor account you approve during OAuth — to switch accounts, disconnect and reconnect signed into the other one.
