Does this work with sitemap index files?

Yes, it automatically fetches and combines URLs from every child sitemap listed in an index, up to 20 child sitemaps per request.

What data does the CSV include?

URL, lastmod, changefreq, and priority for each entry, whichever of those the sitemap actually includes. Many sitemaps only set the URL.

Is there a limit on how many URLs it extracts?

Results are capped at 20,000 URLs per request, well beyond what a single valid sitemap file should contain under the 50,000 URL protocol limit.

Can I use this to check for broken links?

This extracts the URL list only, it doesn't check each one's status. Use our Redirect Checker or Broken Link Checker on individual URLs from the list.
