What correct heading structure looks like

One H1 per page — Every page should have exactly one H1 — the main topic of the page. It should contain your primary keyword and clearly describe what the page is about.

H2s are your main sections — Use H2 tags for the major sections of your content. Each H2 should represent a distinct subtopic under the main H1 topic.

Don't skip heading levels — Going from H1 directly to H3 (skipping H2) confuses both Googlebot and screen readers. Maintain a logical hierarchy — H1 → H2 → H3.

H1 ≠ title tag — Your H1 is visible on the page. Your title tag appears in Google search results. They can be different — and often benefit from slight variations.
